Hi, Linda,

Your post brought to mind PB Shelley's poem:

Lift not the painted veil which those who live
Call Life: though unreal shapes be pictured there,
And it but mimic all we would believe
With colours idly spread,--behind, lurk Fear
And Hope, twin Destinies; who ever weave
Their shadows, o'er the chasm, sightless and drear.
I knew one who had lifted it--he sought,
For his lost heart was tender, things to love,
But found them not, alas! nor was there aught
The world contains, the which he could approve.
Through the unheeding many he did move,
A splendour among shadows, a bright blot
Upon this gloomy scene, a Spirit that strove
For truth, and like the Preacher found it not.

Fear and Hope, twin destinies. That about sums it up, eh?

I'm so glad you are writing regularly again! I'm trying to, but have been failing miserably. Have to just keep plugging away and get back into the routine, because Lord knows it helps me!

I hear what you're saying about the elections, but also avoid blogging about it just because I don't feel like I know enough to say anything of significance.

My thoughts are with you!

I never realized how much this song reminds me of The Ramones...
"Da da da da, de da da da da, I wanna be sedated..."

Please, somebody, just sedate me, and let me wake up after the elections. I don't think i can handle much more of this. I get hopeful for a second, then crash back down to reality. I wonder about armeggedon, buy cat food, canned beans and ammo, then just come home to watch videos, read blogs and finally give up and take a nap.

When I vote I always feel like I'm choosing the lesser of two evils.

Beautiful blog post with vivid imagery. Love the rolled up cigarettes and hooch on the other side.
