Owen eating popcorn
It’s actually cereal, but someone searched on “Owen eating popcorn” today (I see what searches make their way to this blog, in case you’re not familiar with how blogs work), so I thought I should post this picture. Owen posted it in a slide show on his myspace sight early in 2007, and I’m guessing that’s what this person was looking for…or not. I don’t think we have any pictures of Owen eating popcorn.
Speaking of him eating popcorn, though, he didn’t eat it all that often. Even in the old days when we did the popcorn/video thing in the evenings, he would eat some, but nothing like the quanitities consumed by the rest of the family. Nat, Dave, and I could put away alarming amounts of popcorn, and did. Grandma wasn’t far behind, and she was tiny.
After Owen started working in the movie theaters, I think popcorn was low on his list of favorite snacks. When it’s free and one of the few benefits of a low-paying job, however, popcorn can easily become a staple food. He may have eaten a lot more of it than I know.
I worked on a new project most of the day, and it’s time to watch a video with my husband. I hope the last football game is over, and we can go mindlessly into the night with some fictional psychological drama. Not like we don’t have our own, but ours is real, so the phoney stuff is an escape. Ready or not, here I come. I’ll skip the popcorn, thanks. No cereal either. How about a nice glass of champagne? Oh, okay, a Diet Coke will do.
No question, folks, Owen ate more cereal than popcorn. Ask anyone in our family.
Today was rough. Some are harder than others. So this is it. This is the post. Grab a video and a bowl of popcorn.

Hi Linda,
I’ll drink that diet cola with you tonight. I know exactly what you mean by “some days being harder than others”. Had rough times too myself these past few days, but we must try to keep spirits up as Roads would say. For Owen. For Mariel.
Take care,
Bong
Bong, You are so sweet to remind to keep “spirits up” as our friend, Roads, often says. I think of your family often, and know you have these same days that are simply, harder than others. None are easy, but wow, some are, well, something only we know. Take care back at you, Linda
